Setup Checklist
Agency accounts only. The Setup Checklist is available only to agency accounts.
Purpose
The Setup Checklist guides you through the initial configuration needed to fully utilize commission statement processing. It appears in the Statement Detail View and tracks your progress across key setup tasks.
Checklist Items
1. Carrier Configuration
Ensure the carriers you receive statements from are set up in your CRM. Each carrier should have:
A name matching (or mappable to) the carrier names in your statements.
Correct carrier codes or identifiers if applicable.
2. Agent Identifiers
Agent Identifiers are the codes, names, or numbers that carriers use to identify writing agents in their statements. Since carriers often use different identifiers than your CRM (e.g., NPN, agent code, abbreviation), you need to map these.
Setting up Agent Identifiers:
Go to Settings > Agent Identifiers (or use the Setup Checklist link).
For each agent in your agency, add all identifier variations that carriers might use.
Common identifier types include:
- National Producer Number (NPN) - Carrier-specific agent codes - Agent name variations (nicknames, abbreviations) - Writing agent numbers
The Search CRM feature can help by scanning your existing CRM data for agent identifier patterns.
3. Payment Schedules
Payment Schedules define the payout rate for each agent. You need at least one payment schedule to run the Payments and Splits module.
Setting up Payment Schedules:
Go to Settings > Payment Schedules.
Create a schedule with a name (e.g., "Standard 60%", "New Agent 50%").
Set the type: Percent (percentage of commission) or Flat (fixed amount per policy).
Set the rate or amount.
Assign the schedule to agents as their default, or link it to specific tags.
4. Tags and Split Rules (Optional)
If your agency uses commission splits — for mentoring, referral fees, team leads, etc. — set up tags with split rules. See Tags and Split Rules for details.
5. Bonus Programs (Optional)
If your agency runs bonus or incentive programs, configure them in Settings. See Bonus Programs for details.
Checklist Status Indicators
Each checklist item shows its current status:
Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
Complete | The setup step has been completed. All required configuration is in place. |
Incomplete | The step has not been started or is partially configured. |
Optional | The step is not required for basic processing but enables additional features. |
The checklist dynamically updates as you complete each step. Once all required items are complete, you are ready to run all processing modules.
Why the Checklist Matters
Without completing the checklist:
Apply and Backfill can run with basic mapping, but agent matching may be poor.
Discovery can run but may produce more false positives.
Payments and Splits cannot produce accurate results without Payment Schedules and Agent Identifiers.
Completing the checklist ensures the best possible results from all processing modules.
