Commission Statements — Overview

What Are Commission Statements?

Commission Statements is a tool for uploading, mapping, and processing the commission statement spreadsheets you receive from insurance carriers. It automates reconciliation against your CRM data, calculates agent payouts, detects coverage gaps, and generates exportable payment reports.

Page Layout

The Commission Statements page is organized into four tabs:

Tab

Purpose

Statements

Upload, manage, and process commission statement files. Statements are grouped by month.

Mappings

View and manage reusable column mapping templates that tell the system how to read different carrier spreadsheets.

Analytics

Visual dashboards and charts summarizing commission trends, agent performance, and carrier breakdowns.

Settings

Configure Agent Identifiers, Payment Schedules, Bonus Programs, and Tags and Splits. (Agency accounts only)

Statements Tab

The Statements tab is where you spend most of your time. It includes:

  • Year and Month filters to navigate between statement periods.

  • Upload Statement button to add new files.

  • Month groups that show all statements uploaded for a given period, with status badges (Draft, Mapped, Completed).

  • Bulk Payment Report controls on the right side for running payouts across multiple statements at once.

  • Mapping progress indicator showing how many statements in the period have been mapped.

Clicking a statement row opens the Statement Detail View, which contains the mapping interface, setup checklist, and processing modules.

Statement Lifecycle

Each commission statement moves through these stages:

  1. Upload — You upload a spreadsheet file (Excel, CSV) and give it a name and statement date.

  2. Map Columns — You tell the system which columns in the spreadsheet correspond to which data fields (client name, policy number, commission amount, etc.). AI auto-mapping can do this automatically.

  3. Review and Adjust — Review the mapped data, normalize any mismatched values, and configure override detection if needed.

  4. Process — Run one or more processing modules to reconcile the data against your CRM.

  5. Export — Generate payment reports, gap analysis exports, or period-level aggregated reports.

Processing Modules

Three processing modules are available, each serving a different purpose:

Module

What It Does

Key Output

Apply and Backfill

Matches statement rows to existing CRM records and backfills commission history, premiums, and policy numbers. Can create new profiles and policies for unmatched rows.

Matched/unmatched breakdown per row

Discovery

Compares the statement against your CRM to detect gaps — policies in your database missing from the statement (possible cancellations) and statement rows not found in your database.

Missing policies list with bulk actions

Payments and Splits

Calculates agent payouts based on payment schedules, applies tag-based splits, and evaluates bonus programs. Produces a payroll-ready breakdown. (Agency accounts only)

Each module has a Readiness indicator that shows whether the required fields have been mapped. You must meet the minimum mapping requirements before a module can run.

Module Readiness

Before you can run a processing module, it checks that you have mapped the fields it needs:

Status

Meaning

Not Ready

Required fields are missing. The Run button is disabled and a list of missing fields is shown.

Ready

Minimum requirements are met. You can run the module, but mapping additional recommended fields will improve results.

Optimal

All required and recommended fields are mapped for the best possible results.

A progress bar shows your completion percentage. See the individual module articles for each module's specific requirements.

Agency vs. Individual Agent

Some features are available only to agency accounts. Agency-locked features appear with a lock icon and "Agency" badge so you can see the full capability set even on an individual account.
